Security officer:

Security officers are employed at client sites throughout the country to help protect clients’ property, their valuables and their employees. This is achieved through patrolling, monitoring and reporting techniques by exercising Vigilance, Integrity and Helpfulness (core company values).

Security officers are first class customer service experts; better known in Securitas USA as Service Excellence!  As the nature of business changes, security officer job responsibilities also change to include video, computer and communication technology responsibilities.

EFCC Personnel

  • Initial Training (12 days residential course)
  • Maintain competencies through continued professional development (CPD 6/7 days residential course) on an annual basis to remain deployable
  • Maintain competencies where applicable through defensive driver training (DDT 1 day course)
  • Deployable during notification of major incident, industrial action or any other circumstance that could reduce normal fire
    service capability
  • Whilst on deployment there may be instances where there are requirements to work in potentially dangerous environment including but not limited to work at height, confined spaces including partial or total darkness, work outdoors.
  • Where applicable, wear breathing apparatus
  • Monitor and manage their personal appearance and behaviours, wearing and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment, taking note of any corrective actions in line with company policy.
  • Monitor Security and Fire related equipment, ensuring faults are reported correctly.
  • Duties may also involve running, jogging, required to have the ability to climb stairs and ladders, be able to crawl along a surface, be able to jump, be able to dig and hammer, be able to lift heavy objects and equipment, be able to push / pull weights, objects and equipment
  • Sensory: Be able to distinguish between colours, be able to distinguish between different sounds, be able to detect
    different smells
  • Work unsociable hours
  • Work in situations where the sight of blood, seriously injured or dead persons maybe a regular occurrence
  • Deal sensitively with people in difficult, trying and ambiguous situations
  • To travel and be away from home for prolonged periods
  • To undertake and pass initial recruitment processes and annually partake in refresher training and assessment
  • Whilst in times of ‘stand-down’ on operational assignment partake in scenario based and continuation training.
  • Be prepared to move and deploy at short notice any time day or night to a central ‘muster point’ in Central London
  • To work within a team and as an individual using common sense, initiative and to carry out duties that would normally be conducted by regular fire-fighters.

Person Specification

  • Must be physically fit and capable of taking part in rescue simulation and emergency procedures, wearing and using heavy equipment.
  • Able to work at heights, in confined dark spaces.
  • Must have good eyesight with normal color vision for Reading O2 meters and safety.
  • Ability to wear full face mask protection.
  • An understanding of the need to portray a professional image at all times.
